East/West Diagnosis

Traditional Chinese Medicine has its own unique philosophy and system of diagnosis, but in modern clinical practice many of our patients come to us after first receiving a disease diagnosis from their Western M.D.

The following articles illustrate the differences between the Western Medical diagnosis and treatment plan for a given disease and the Chinese Medical approach of breaking diseases down into patterns.  It is only when the specific pattern is diagnosed that a Chinese Herbal formulation can be customized for the patient.  It is in this way that the process of customization reduces the incidence of side-effects while addressing the root of each patient’s unique health complaint.

In order to make sense of the following articles it is suggested that patients first check out the Glossary of TCM Terminology we have created to facilitate your understanding by explaining TCM specific terms.
